Meet the District Superintendent!
I am privileged to
be appointed as the Franklin District Superintendent.
I am married to Jolene who works part time for the American Red Cross as
an instructor for the nursing assistants classes and also part time as a
charge nurse at Sugar Creek Station. We are the parents of two grown and
married daughters who have given us four grandchildren.
Before being appointed as the Franklin District Superintendent in July of
2001, I served in a multi-point charge in the Erie-Meadville District, a
station charge in the Greensburg District and a large multi-staff church
in the Butler District.
The Franklin District has 102 churches located in a small part of Crawford
county, all of Mercer and Venango counties and most of Clarion county.
Our mission is to make disciples for Jesus Christ; to be in ministry in
our communities, the conference, the nation and the world; and to be
positive change agents in our communities. Most of our district is rural
with smaller churches joined together in multi-point charges for ministry.
We have larger ministries in Clarion, Franklin, Grove City, Hermitage,
Oil City and Sharon.
The churches in the Franklin District face challenges that include, but
are not limited to the following:
- Economic, we continue to experience the loss jobs in our region.
- Membership, the average age of our members is getting older and the
numbers are declining. We need to gain skills in establishing new
relationships with people in our communities.
- Spiritual, our spirits have been affected by the changes around us,
many of which we experience as disappointments. We need for God to pour
out his Spirit upon us so that our spirits will be strong and attractive
for Jesus Christ.
My prayer for all of the Franklin District is expressed in Paul's
prayer for the Christians in Ehpesus in Ephesians 3:14-21:
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole
family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his
glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in
your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have
power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high
and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses
knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of
God.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or
imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be
glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for
ever and ever! Amen.
